Pink Land Ekkamai Pocket Park
Ekkamai pocket park is considered as the only public green space, located at the entrance of the Ekkamai district, one of the most prime touristic areas of Bangkok. The park originated unintentionally as the remaining space from several layers of transportation infrastructure developments, including canal, road, and intersection bridge, left with huge challenges of unique green fractures underneath. The rare public park is not meant only to serve surrounding communities but has a greater responsibility to attract a wider range of people with drastic differentiation from all places.
With the current context, the area possesses high-potential development, designated to extend the impact of public green space to an urban scale.
The concept of "more than a park" introduces an architectonic activation tool called "pink lane" designed based on 3 purposes, to resolve site constraints, to support users' demands (locals+visitors), and to be publicly viral, encouraging park-making movements among society.
The iconic colourful structure stretches throughout the park, reviving surrounding livelihood, meanwhile inviting newcomers with its distinct and photogenic designs. The invention intends to demonstrate new possibilities of green space development rather than a regular park, emphasizing opportunities, values, and services for the public.
